A Moon-lit Veil (August 2010)

This image was taken with the moon 90% lit and about 50 degrees away from this nebula, but I was going in for some sleep and figured it wouldn't hurt to try. This is 46x4' with the SXVF-H9C through the 6" Orion I-Newt. The Veil is dim. You may have to turn off the lights to see it in this image, but there it is.

Nice! Did you use a light pollution filter for this?

Thanks, Rory! I did use the LPF for it. I think that filter helps quite a bit. On this one, the moon's full-spectrum glow probably counted more against me than the local lights. Too bad the first clear night I've seen here in months suffered from moon-glow. Still waiting, and glad the stars are more permanent than the weather.
